La Familia de UCR welcomes you to the first ¡Presente! Conference - Un Espacio For Our QT Community on February 3-4, 2017 @ UC Riverside.
Friday’s events are free and open to all. We’ll screen the film Raising Zoey, and feature a performance by AB SOTO – an artist with Latin roots and a rebellious streak challenging mainstream gay culture. People of all genders and sexualities who self-identify with the Latin/South/Central American diaspora or Brown or Indigenous are welcome to apply to attend Saturday’s conference event. Alan Pelaez, a poet and community organizer at the intersections of undocumented, brown, and black lives; and Bamby Salcedo, a nationally recognized Latina transgender activist, are featured on Saturday. Plus, a full schedule of workshops, lunch, and community-building is on tap. The full schedule is below. The ¡Presente! Conference is co-sponsored by Chicano Student Programs, the LGBT Resource Center and is supported by the Highlander Empowerment Referendum.
